How much does a meal cost?
A plate of pierogi ruskie costs roughly 8 to 15 zł depending on the bar. A full set with soup, a main and kompot is around 25 zł at Krakus. Prices change, so check the board.
Why are the meat-free dishes so cheap?
Milk bars get a state subsidy for dishes without meat, so pierogi, pancakes and many soups cost far less than a schabowy.
Can I pay by card?
More and more bars take cards (Krakus does), but carry some cash for the smaller ones.
When are they open?
Most open around 8:00 and close by 17:00–18:30. Only 11 of the 25 open on Sundays, and most Nowa Huta bars close at weekends. Use the Open Sunday filter on the map.
Is it OK for vegetarians?
Yes. Pierogi ruskie, placki, naleśniki and many sides are meat-free. If unsure, ask: bez mięsa? (bez MYEN-sah, without meat?).
Which one is closest to the Old Town?
Pod Temidą on Grodzka, a few minutes from the Rynek. Pod Filarkami and Targowy are a short walk east.
